Contrary to popular belief, we’re still alive and we’re still developing! We now have a 3rd developer working with us remotely from Ireland. We think he might actually be a sentient potato, but he’s a programmer and he knows his stuff, so we keep him around and feed him a healthy diet of potatoes and tasteless Irish jokes.
Here’s what we’re currently working on:
- Player movement prediction – It works but we need to refine it some more
- Weapon system with locational player damage
- Player animations
- Networked hit effects and audio
- Procedural map generation – This ties into all core environmental systems like power, gravity and airflow, we’ll be working to get it right
Since Blackout is a multiplayer-centric game, nearly every system needs to be designed with networking in mind (and built-in). We don’t have any pretty pictures to show off just yet, but we’ll have a new video soon to show off what we’re working on.
